If there’s one thing I’ve learned working within this fast-paced digital sphere, it’s that you need to know how to work smarter, not harder.
A desire to do it all can often leave you overworked and mentally drained. Being smart with your time and having a sense of self-awareness is key, which brings me to my first tip.
Having a certain amount of self-awareness is a great way to learn how to manage your time and/or money. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses will allow you to know when to ask for help or when to cut your losses.
EVERY MORNING EAT THE FROG
“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” – Mark Twain
Checking emails, making ‘To Do’ lists are all great and have to be done but they are not what keeps you up at night. Get the things that are most urgent done at the start of your day, it will make the rest of your day a breeze.
TAKE A BREAK
This may sound counterproductive but sometimes when you are looking at a problem for too long, your brain starts to go fuzzy. Walk away; go and make yourself a cup of tea and give your brain a rest. Then come to back to your task with a fresh set of eyes.
Managing your time and energy on a daily basis will help to train your mind to work smarter and not harder. Ensuring your energy is optimised correctly so that you have plenty left over for the weekend.
